Call of Duty is an Activision first-person video game shooter franchise. Beginning in 2003, it focused first on games set in World War II. The series has seen games set in the middle of the Cold War, future-oriented worlds and outdoor space over time. Infinity Ward, Treyarch and Sledgehammer Games first developed the games. Several other developers have made spin-off and handheld games. On 13 November 2020 the latest title, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, was released.

The series originally focuses on World War II with the first (2003) and second (2005) titles developed by Infinity Ward in the series and Treyarch developed the third titles (2006). Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (2007) introduced a new, modern environment and proved the breakthrow of the series, creating a sub-series of the Modern Warfare. The legacy of the game has also influenced the development of a new version, published in 2016. Two additional entries were made, Modern Warfare 2 (2009) and 3 (2011). In 2019, the sub-series was rebooted with Modern Warfare. Infinity Ward has also developed two games, Ghosts (2013) and Infinite Warfare, outside Modern Warfare sub-series (2016). Treyarch did one final World War II game, World at War (2008), before Black Ops (2010) and the Black Ops sub-series were released. Four other entries were made in conjunction with Raven Software, Black Ops II (2012), III (2015), 4 (2018) and Cold War (2020). Sledgehammer Games have also developed two titles, Advanced Warfare (2014) and WWII, as co-developers for Moderne Warfare 3. (2017).

The series sold more than 400 million copies by April 2021. With new games released annually for blockbuster sales, the series is verified as the first-person shooter game series by Guinness World Records. It is also the most successful video game franchise in the US and the third largest video game franchise ever. Other franchise products include a range of Plan B Toys figures; a card game created by Upper Deck Company; a Mega Bloks set by Mega Brands; and a WildStorm Productions Comic Book miniseries.

Call of Duty has been released worldwide now.
