Jio’s Vision for a 2G-Free India

In addition to the Jio Bharat phone and its accompanying plans, Reliance Jio has unveiled several initiatives aimed at transforming India into a 2G-free nation. One such initiative is the Jio Bharat Platform, which allows other handset manufacturers to introduce affordable Jio Bharat phones. This platform will be embraced by various phone brands, starting with Karbonn, to develop affordable devices that prioritize connectivity.

Reliance Jio Chairman, Akash Ambani, highlighted the significance of this endeavor, stating, “There are still 250 million mobile phone users in India who remain ‘trapped’ in the 2G era, unable to tap into basic internet features at a time when the world stands on the brink of a 5G revolution. Six years ago, when Jio was launched, we made it clear that Jio will leave no stone unturned to democratize the internet and bring the benefits of technology to every Indian. The new Jio Bharat phone is another step in that direction.”

Beta Trial and Future Outlook

To ensure the seamless integration of the Jio Bharat phone, a beta trial is scheduled to commence on July 7 across 6500 tehsils throughout the country. This trial phase will allow for rigorous testing and optimization of the device’s performance, paving the way for a successful nationwide launch.

With the introduction of the Jio Bharat phone, Reliance Jio aims to bridge the digital divide and enable every Indian to embrace the power of 4G connectivity. By combining affordability, essential features, and extensive network coverage, Jio Bharat is set to revolutionize the Indian telecommunications landscape, fostering a truly connected nation.
