More About Among Us

Among Us, developed and published by American game studio Innersloth, is a an online multiplayer social deduction game. With support for Android and iOS in June 2018 and Windows in November 2018, the game was launched on all three platforms: iOS, Android, and Windows.

And in 2021, you can look forward to the game also coming to the Nintendo Switch, with additional console releases planned for the Xbox One, Xbox One X, and Xbox S, the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. While preparing the game for release, the developers looked to Mafia (a popular party game) and The Thing (a science fiction horror film) as inspiration. This resulted in the inclusion of the maps MIRA Headquarters, Polus, and the Airship. The Airship’s design is based on Innersloth’s Infiltrating the Airship game.

There is one main objective for the crew of each part of the ship. In general, a human crew does everything that needs to be done in order to keep the ship operational. On top of that, they’re also expected to handle all of the group’s daily maintenance tasks, such as responding to sabotage attempts, reporting any oddities, holding emergency meetings, or removing impostors. Conversely, only the alien impostors have to kill the crew, either by remaining anonymous or by falsely implicating someone else for sabotage or murder.

There are two editions of Among Us: one for four to ten players, and the other for more players. Each round, three randomly-chosen players become the impostors. A round takes place on one of four maps: The Skeld, MIRA HQ, Polus, or The Airship, which is based on the book series by InnerSloth.

Each time the game begins, Crewmates are assigned various minigames that must be completed around the map. These tasks include vital system maintenance, such as fixing broken wires and downloading data.

In order to blend in with a Crewmate, impostors are given a fake list of tasks to perform. It is impossible for them to perform legitimate work. Due to their position on the ship, impostors can covertly travel through vents, sabotage the ship’s oxygen supply, and collaborate with other impostors to kill the ship’s crew. A dead player is a ghost. You can pass through walls as a ghost, see others through the walls, and talk to others as ghosts. However, ghosts do not have the limited field of vision that living players do.

Grave Robbers assist their teammates by completing tasks or pulling off sabotages (as an Impostor).

The Impostors are victorious when they succeed in killing a significant number of Crewmates, or when the Crewmates fail to resolve a major act of sabotage.

To complete all the tasks, or to identify and eject all impostors, the Crewmates win.

A match may also end when all players surrender, fulfilling any win condition (if a crewmate quits the game, their tasks are automatically considered completed).
